Primary Source : A Confederate Girl's Diary
Sarah Morgan Dawson was devoted to the Confederacy, she believed that the South needed to conquer and go back to the Union because being apart would ruin them both. Woman had to wear Secessionist Bows as a symbol of supporting the soldiers. After her brother and father died her mother, sisters and herself were force to abandon their home and move to Clinton.

Women's roles change completely after the men left of to fight. The were first denied to help out as nurses in the military, but later on because they started realizing that men were being seriously injured they accepted them.

Bread Riot in Richmond
On April 2,1863 women started a riot because the governor of Virginia refused to hear their complains about the Impressment Act, as well as a tax law deemed "confiscatory". Leading the women to much more angry, marching to Washington City's business district.
